KIA ORA AND WELCOME TO THE

Catchment Toolkit

– a place for you to find all the information you need to start and run a catchment group in Aotearoa, plus to learn from others who have come before. The Catchment Toolkit is also the home of ACE – Aotearoa Catchment Extension programme: a place of empowerment and education for our community-based catchment leaders and coordinators of today, and tomorrow.

The Aotearoa Catchment Extension (ACE)

The ACE project provides a national capability development programme aimed at enhancing the skills of people working with and in catchment groups. Delivered over six modules of both online and in-person learning, the programme aims to kick off in early 2024.

About ACE

Our goal is to provide a training programme tailored with expert advice to enhance the capability and skills of those working with catchment groups to futureproof the Kaupapa and mahi for generations to come.

The training takes place over three main pillars; an online learning platform, Knowledge Hub events, and Communities of Practice. ACE will cover six topics; Freshwater Management in Aotearoa, Strategic Leadership, Integrated Farm to Catchment Scale Planning, GMP and Mitigation Tools and Technologies, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Engagement and Storytelling.

The Aotearoa Catchment Extension project is funded through Ministry for the Environment’s Essential Freshwater Fund (EFF). More information can be found here.

The ACE programme is a NZ Landcare Trust project.  NZ Landcare Trust is a grassroots organisation supporting communities in sustainable land and water management practices. Partnering with rural communities, catchment and landcare groups, and other organisations, they aim to make a tangible difference in the future of Aotearoa’s waterways.
